Biografia : Excuse Me Moses

In the summer of 2000 a band named FUNKALICIOUS made its first steps into the light. Only a few months later the guys were in the studio recording their very first demo called “Heavy Funky Demo” and in February 2001 they played their first ever live gig at the Shelter in Vienna.

From then on things went along at a nice and steady pace. In May 2002 the debut EP “Deduction”, containing seven tracks was released. In April 2004 the first long player “Perfekta” followed and made it on #42 of the OE3 album charts. May 2004 saw FUNKALICIOUS in the studio recording a video to the song “Prophecy”. It was later aired on goTV. In August 2004 the band starred for the first time in a major event – a live gig on the main stage of the FM4 Frequency festival. In August 2004 a second video, this time to the song “Better than nowhere”, was shot and later again aired on goTV.

May 2005 saw the first line-up change: Martin Scheer took over as drummer. In the same year they played at the Donauinselfest and supported the German Crossover band H-BLOCKX at two concerts. In September of this year FUNKALICIOUS celebrated its fifth anniversary with a big party at the sold-out Shelter. Immediately afterwards the guys started to produce some demos for a new album and looked for a label.

In November the band’s name was changed to EXCUSE ME MOSES. Under this name they entered the OE3 Soundcheck – a band contest – and made third place. In February 2006 they started to work with producer Alexander Kahr on a new album. They took just one short break from the studio to play as support act for BON JOVI. In July the band signed a contract with Universal Music Austria and in September the debut single “Summer Sun” was published and made #33 of the Austria Top 40 single charts.

In January 2007 EXCUSE ME MOSES won the Austrian Newcomer Awards. Two more singles from the upcoming album were released: “Not in love anymore” and “Butterfly Tree”. The last one was played extensively on the radio and stayed for twenty weeks in the Austrian single charts. The first single “Summer Sun” won the band a nomination as Newcomer of the Year at the Amadeus Awards.

In June 2007 the album “1st Last Will” was finally published and immediately made #13 of the Austria Top 40 album charts – and kept a place there for ten whole weeks! Just for the sheer hell of it EXCUSE ME MOSES then played an unannounced gig on the Stephansplatz right in the center of Vienna. Gigs at the NovaRock festival and the Donauinselfest followed.

In December 2007 they played support for PINK and in January 2008 the new single “Godzilla Killa” provided the soundtrack for the computer game “Ski Challenge ‘08”. In April 2008 the single “Butterfly Tree” from the first album won them a nomination as Music Download of the Year at the Amadeus Awards.

Before retreating to the studio for work on a new album they played a gig in Finland at the Riihimäki Rock Festival and in KLagenfurt / Austria at the Austrorockfestival. In December 2008 the single “Speed” was offered as a digital download.

In March 2009 the single “I wonder” was published. The video for this song was put into the power rotation by goTV. In April 2009 the second long player “Pole Shift” was released. The presentation at the Viennese club U4 was sold out to the last place. After a long and exhaustive tour through Austria with short trips to Czechoslovakia and Turkey, the band returned only to go straight back to the studio.
