Foreign Legion was formed in 1982 in the town of Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. The band was formerly called "Dead On Arrival" but had to change the name due to another punk band with the same name. The band released their first single in 1984 called "Trenchline EP". This included "Message From Nowhere" and "Lots Of Fun". After the single was released the band toured up and down the UK with bands such as Major Accident, 999, Joe Strummer, UK Subs, Vibrators, and The Adicts. The band then released their second single in 1989 entitled "Surf City EP". The band were also touring various European countries such as France and Switzerland. The band had tracks on various Oi compilation albums such as "Oi! The rarities-Vol 2",The band released their first album in 1990 after a number of line-up changes. The album was called "Welcome To Fort Zindernauf". In 1991, shortly after the album was released, the band decided it was time to split....... The band decided to reform in 1999 after a well earned break. The current line-up is Marcus on vocals, Jolly on guitar, Andrew on bass and Stan on drums. The band released their first single after reforming in early 2000 entitled "The Years Gone By". The band has also released a split single with German punk band District. The band also has a track on fellow Welsh band The Partisans tribute album. The band is about to release a split album at the end of 2000 with Major Accident. They are also getting ready for a possible tour of the US with Major Accident and The Templars in early 2001. It is also confirmed that Foreign Legion will be playing at the 100th anniversary of Holidays In The Sun in Morcambe in July 2001.
