biografía : Deadman Dance

Deadman Dance is a power trio from São Paulo that mixes drums, bass and, replacing the guitar, a highly distorted violin. It was only a matter of time for violinist Eduardo Geraissate to see his solo work, initially instrumental, also feature lyrics and his voice, Rafaela A. B.'s drums and, finally, Henrique Codonho's bass.

The group’s proposal is to deconstruct the classic formation of a rock trio by using the contrast of raw sounds with the innovative contribution from the violin amidst genres where the instrument is not commonly used. From the flirtation with grunge, stoner rock, punk and Brazilian music, they present us with a unique sound.

With influences ranging from Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, Far From Alaska, Joy Division, and Brazilian popular rhythms, the trio sound goes in the opposite direction of orchestral music, being direct, fast and aggressive most of the time. Here the violin abandons the concept of a melodic instrument, focusing on the harmonic part most of the time, and the bass is responsible for the melodies. The drums take over connecting everything accurately, filling the cracks that remain open and giving the rhythm of the songs.

Produced, mixed and mastered by Alyson Borges at Cavalo Estúdio, in São Paulo, the debut EP of Deadman Dance “Ticking Clocks” is a joint release from Howlin’ Records, Oxenti Records and Fuzzy Cracklins (USA).
