Gabriel Ruiz Diaz (Santa Fe, Argentina, April 19, 1975) is one of the founding members of the band Catupecu Machu along with his brother Fernando Ruiz Diaz. In the band played bass, guitar, keyboards, samplers, and sang as well as producing several albums of the band and perform live string arrangements. Is inactive since 2006, when she lost mobility in a car accident.
Working at Machu Catupecu
On April 19, 1994, Ruiz Díaz brothers formed the band in Villa Luro Machu Catupecu. Although there are different versions about the origin of the name, is that it arose during a discussion of Gabriel in high school, where he talked about some animals which he lived in Africa, "Catupecu" male and hembra.1
Edited several others until in 1997 they released their first album, Dale!. This album includes themes that had already been recorded in the previous models and some unpublished. The following year they released a live album entitled To Die!.
In early 2000 signed a contract with record company EMI-Odeon SAIC, by which they recorded their next album Tales Beheaded. Some of the topics were "And I want you to step on without the floor," It lives and Whole or pieces.
Two years later they released "pictures within pictures," a more experimental album. Gabriel played bass but was behind the samplers and computer effects. He was the first album of the band's new drummer, Javier Herrlein.
The last album was recorded by gabriel Imperfect Number, which went on sale on November 4, 2004. This new album featured the addition of Martin Gonzalez Macabre samplers, synthesizers and computers.
